Carlise Council have taken the initiative and installed solar thermal installation in 3 hostels and 2 public toilets.
Whilst there is no accurate data on CO2 savings it would be wise to consider them successful in reducing at the very least the amount of gas and electricity otherwise consumed.
They have also a small solar pv panel feeding into the grid at the country park, a 2.5kw wind turbine and 2 air-source heat pumps.
More of these projects and we'll be on our way to saving the planet.
